The LastChanceBricks verdict

They are the two "safe yes" picks of the botanical section: they take up no room, need no display case and work as a gift for people who do not usually build LEGO. The Bonsai Tree (10281) is the cheaper of the two and, interestingly, the one that offers the most pieces per euro in this whole comparison tool —the tree with swappable green leaves or cherry blossom, a classic that never goes out of style—. The Wildflower Bouquet (10313) costs a bit more and has more pieces in total, with the advantage that it goes into any real vase and can be rearranged however you like.

The LastChanceBricks verdict for a gift: if you want the most cost-effective and timeless gesture, the Bonsai wins —less money, a better ratio, and that zen touch almost everyone likes—. If you want bright hues and for the person to arrange it their own way, the bouquet is more "theirs". Both share the same official retirement date, so neither is in more of a hurry than the other. And as always: check on the product page whether Amazon goes below the LEGO.com price before buying; on cheap sets, a couple of euros of "discount" is often no discount at all.
