The black Falcon from Rebuild the Galaxy leaves LEGO’s range on 31 December 2026. We compare it with the 75257, go through its six figures one by one and tell you how much to pay.

Set page, price history and retirement alert

Verdict

The 75389 is worth it if you want several of its six figures and you don’t own the 2019 Falcon 75257. In that case, paying 161.99 € or less (the price on Amazon.es on 14 October) is a defensible purchase.

If you already have the 75257, the ship adds almost nothing. TodoBrick owns both and put them side by side: apart from the paint scheme, only the hinges and the figures change. If you just want a Falcon for the shelf, the 75375 costs half as much. And don’t buy it to resell: today it trades below its official price.

QuestionShort answer
When does it retire? On 31 Dec 2026, according to LEGO’s list. LEGO may bring the date forward or move it.
Is it a new Falcon? No. On the outside it is the 75257 (2019) in black and red. The interior changes, and so does the panel hinge, which is reinforced.
Which figures does it include?Six: Jedi Vader, Darth Rey, Beach Luke, Darth Dev, Darth Jar Jar and Bounty Hunter C-3PO. All six are listed as exclusive to this set on Brickset and Brickfact.
How much should you pay?Official price 179.99 €. Today, 161.99 € on Amazon.es (sold by a third party, shipped by Amazon). Lowest price in the last 90 days: 148.06 €.
How much space does it take?About 43 × 32 × 12 cm according to Brickset. One reviewer measured about 45 × 33 cm.

Is it for you?

  • Do you want to play with it? It has six large panels that open, a removable throne, a cell, a games room, a turret for two gunners and two launchers. The new hinges hold up to tugging, according to three reviewers. Against it: the ramp is barely usable, the cockpit only fits two figures and it is heavy for a 10-year-old. It fits.
  • Do you want to display it? Black, dark red, translucent red engines and an antenna shaped like a superlaser. Against it: there is a visible gap next to the cockpit, it carries about 15 stickers on the outside and dust shows a lot on black. It fits if you don’t own the 75257.
  • Are you after the figures? That is its strongest argument: six variants that today only come here. But if you only want one, buying it on its own usually works out cheaper. It fits if you want several.

Four questions to decide:

QuestionIf you answer…Then
1. Do you already own the Falcon 75257?YesOn the outside it is identical. It is only worth it for the figures: go to 3.
NoGo to 2.
2. Do you have a space of about 45 × 33 cm?NoThe 75375 is a better choice.
I don’t knowYou are missing a fact: measure it before paying.
3. Do you want at least two of these: Jedi Vader, Darth Jar Jar, Beach Luke or Darth Rey?Two or moreToday this set is the only way to get them new. It fits.
Only oneFirst check how much it costs on its own.
NoneFor a child who wants Han Solo’s Falcon, the 75426 is better.
4. Will you pay 161.99 € or less for it, shipping included?YesIt fits.
I can only find it at the official priceThat is 32 € more than the 90-day low. If you are in no hurry, turn on the alert on the set page.

Our view. As a ship, the 75389 doesn’t compete with the 75375: one is for playing and the other is a display model. They compete for your budget. If what you want is “a Falcon”, the 75375 costs less than half and has no retirement date coming up soon. The 75426 is the classic play Falcon in shops right now, although according to the launch information the SMART brick is sold separately.

What the piece count doesn’t tell you

Build: it’s the 2019 Falcon again. Brickset, Beyond the Brick (min 2:00) and Your Daily Brick (7:30) agree that the hull, cockpit, turret and panels are those of the 75257 in other shades. TodoBrick bought both, compared them side by side and concludes that only the attachment points change (8:30–9:00). JANG, who also paid for it, values the interior changes more and calls it “the best Falcon for play so far” (11:00). They don’t contradict each other on what they see: outside it’s the same and inside it changes. They only differ on how much that change is worth. It takes about 3 hours to build (MandR, 1:00). If you already built the 2019 one, you will be building the same thing.

What does improve: the panels no longer come loose. The hinge now has a bar running through 1×1 plates with rings, and the panel stays practically fixed. Beyond the Brick (4:30), Anthony’s Brick Builds (3:00, next to his 75257, whose panel comes off) and TodoBrick (6:30) show it.

Display: it looks good, but has three drawbacks.

  • Gap next to the cockpit. It is bigger than on the 75257: Anthony fits his finger into the one on the 75389, and on the 2019 one it doesn’t fit (2:30). MandR (9:30), Beyond the Brick (3:00), Brickset and AngelsBricks (3:30) also point it out.
  • Stickers. Your Daily Brick counts at least 15 on the outside (15:00). The round ones are tricky to line up (JANG 9:30). The windscreen and the console controls are printed.
  • Dust. It shows a lot on the black pieces. TodoBrick noticed it after two days (6:00).

Play: more open than the 2019 one, also emptier. Besides the throne, the cell, the games room with dejarik, the bunks, the two-person turret and the launchers, Darth Jar Jar’s throne hides a holocron behind it. There are drawbacks that several reviews confirm: the ramp is nearly useless (MandR 13:00; Your Daily Brick 12:00; Brickset), the cockpit fits two figures tightly and there is a lot of empty space inside.

Price. At the official price it works out at 11.4 cents per piece. Today it costs 10 % less on Amazon.es. In the reviews, the verdict on price changes depending on who paid for the set. Brickset (set provided by LEGO) doesn’t recommend it at the official price. TodoBrick (bought it) thinks it makes no sense if you already have the 75257. JANG (bought it) argues that, adjusted for US inflation, it is cheaper than earlier Falcons. Our view: below about 150 € it is a clear buy. At the official price, only if the figures matter to you.

The minifigures of the 75389

Six minifigures, six different variants, one of each. The codes are BrickLink’s. The “Only here?” column was checked on Brickset and Brickfact as of 14 October 2026.

What we could not check. BrickLink blocks automated queries, so we have not seen its list of sets in which each figure appears. Nor do we know whether any came out in magazines or promotional polybags. The other three Rebuild the Galaxy sets (75388, 75393 and 75414) include other characters.

How much is each figure worth? The sources don’t agree. For the six together, Brickfact gives about 81 $ and AngelsBricks about 115 $. Jedi Vader is the most valued in all of them (between 36 and 45 $). These are asking prices or third-party averages, not sales we have checked, and no source states what condition the figures are in.

Is it worth buying this set for its minifigures? If you want several, yes. If you only want one, no. Jedi Vader, the most expensive, is listed for less than a quarter of what the set costs: if that is the only one you care about, buying it on its own (with shipping and fees) is almost certainly cheaper than the box. If you want three or four, or all six, this set is today the only way to get them new. Don’t work out the price assuming you will sell the ones you don’t want: the figures are asking prices, not sales, and selling has costs.

Will the Dark Falcon go up in value?

FactsSignsUncertainties
Listed retirement on 31 Dec 2026. Today it sells below the official price. On Brickset it is worth about 127 € new and about 95 € used, and on Brickfact between 133 and 142 $: both figures are below the official priceAll six variants are exclusive today. Jedi Vader and Darth Jar Jar are the most sought after. There are 2026 videos asking whether to buy it before it retiresWhether LEGO brings back any of these variants. How much stock will remain in shops. Whether interest in a non-canon series holds up

The closest case doesn’t allow any conclusions. The 75257 has been retired since 2024. On our radar it only appears at one shop, at 281.02 €, and a single shop price doesn’t prove it has gone up in value. Besides, its figures were not exclusive. The predictions published in 2024 haven’t been uniformly right either: today Jedi Vader and Darth Rey are above what was expected, and the rest are within forecast.

By condition: sealed, with the box in good condition, is what usually fetches the most (the box measures 48 × 38 × 11 cm and takes up room). Opened and complete, Brickset estimates it at about 95 €. Without the minifigures it loses almost all its appeal, because what is left is the 75257 in other shades.

If you plan to resell it, subtract fees, the shipping of a large parcel, the space it takes up and the risk of the box getting damaged.

The possible future appeal of this set rests on its six minifigure variants that today are only recorded in it, above all Jedi Vader and Darth Jar Jar, but it depends on LEGO not reusing them and on interest in Rebuild the Galaxy holding up, and it could be limited by a hull that already existed in the 75257, by a second-hand market that today is below the official price and by the stock still left in shops.

Only buy it if you like it even if it never rises in price. If you are unsure, read investing in LEGO or playing.

They agree on: the exterior is the same as the 75257’s, there is a gap next to the cockpit, it has lots of stickers, the ramp is nearly useless, the panels are better anchored and the figures are the main attraction. They disagree on: whether it is worth its official price. Of the two who bought it with their own money, one says yes and the other says no.

Frequently asked questions

Is the LEGO 75389 the same Falcon as the 75257? On the outside, yes. TodoBrick compared them side by side and only found changes in the paint scheme and the attachment points. Inside, the layout changes (throne, cell and games room), and so does the panel hinge.
Do the Dark Falcon minifigures come in other sets? As of 14 October 2026, Brickset and Brickfact state that all six (sw1363 to sw1368) only come in this set. We have not been able to check this directly on BrickLink.
Which is the most valuable figure? Jedi Vader (sw1363), in every source consulted. The figures range from 36 to 45 $ and are asking prices, not sales.
Is it suitable for a 10-year-old? The official age is 10+ and the panels no longer come loose. But it is very heavy, the ramp is nearly useless and the cockpit only fits two figures tightly. For a child who wants Han Solo's Falcon, the 75426 comes with Han and Chewie.
Will it drop in price before it retires? We don't know. The lowest price we have seen in the last 90 days is 148.06 €. If you are in no hurry, turn on the alert on the set page.

Pending: confirm availability on LEGO.es, look up completed sales on BrickLink and check today’s price of the 75426.

For anyone who already owns the 75257, the Dark Falcon is the same Falcon with other figures. For anyone who wants Jedi Vader, Darth Jar Jar and the rest, it is the only new box that includes them. If you are in the second group, buy it at 160 € or less before 31 December and enjoy it, without thinking of it as an investment. More context in which LEGO Star Wars sets are retiring.
