LEGO Chima

88 sets in the lineup · 0 with announced retirement

Chima is LEGO history: the in-house world bet from the mid-2010s that did not survive Ninjago. The whole theme has been discontinued for years — you will not see future retirement dates here, because they have all already happened — and what is left is pure collector and nostalgia territory.

Why do we keep the page? Because Chima shows better than any other theme what happens after retirement: the big sets (the temples, the tribes' flagship vehicles) trade high on the secondary market, the small ones can be found at a reasonable price, and the special pieces (the beasts, the characters) have their own market. If it rings a bell from your childhood and you want to get it back, compare calmly: there is no urgency worth having when the retirement was years ago.

For anyone deciding to get in today, three tips for an already mature market: buy built-and-complete with instructions rather than a sealed box, unless you collect boxes — the sealed premium on a dead theme is pure collecting and comes at a high price. Check the signature action pieces (the legendary beasts, the vehicles with functions), because they are the first thing to go missing or break in used lots. And be wary of "complete collections" at bargain prices: the theme had too many sets for a truly complete lot to be cheap. Chima rewards the informed buyer and punishes haste — the advantage of themes with no clock. That is why this page shows no urgency: it shows the theme's full historical lineup with its data, so you can calmly compare whatever the secondary market asks of you.
