LEGO Minecraft

146 sets in the lineup · 31 with announced retirement

Minecraft at a glance, according to the official lineup

Data from the daily sync with the LEGO lineup; dates can change and each set page shows the current one.

LEGO Minecraft translates the video game block by block, and its audience is loyal but peculiar: children ask for the biome or the boss they are playing right now. LEGO knows this and rotates the lineup at the pace of the game's updates — the sets for a specific area live a couple of cycles and leave when the game looks elsewhere.

To buy well: the small and mid-size sets have a constant functional replacement (there will always be a house, a mine, a portal), so they are rarely urgent. The ones that truly disappear are the big collector sets and those with specific iconic scenes. A note from experienced parents: check the exact scene with whoever plays — in Minecraft "similar" does not cut it, and that specificity is exactly what makes the right retired sets valuable.

There is also an age pattern that helps you get it right: the theme hits hard at six or seven years old (the small sets, the square characters you can identify at a glance) and grows into mid-size dioramas that fit into built worlds — older children mix sets and loose pieces the same way they play: changing everything. That is why the mid-size boxes with varied biomes give more than the expensive scene set: they are a quarry of themed blocks. And the reverse advice for the adult fan of the game: the theme's collector sets exist, they are aimed at you and not at the child, and they follow the one-time-run logic of any display piece. The snapshot above tells you which area of the theme's lineup is closing its cycle now — useful to cross-check with the game update being played in your home.
