The Middle-earth pair pits light against shadow, and for once the more expensive set is also the more efficient one. Rivendell (10316) has more pieces than Barad-dûr (10333) and, even though its official retail price is somewhat higher, it comes out with a better pieces-per-euro ratio: it is more set for every euro despite the higher price tag. It is also the more "showcase" of the two, with the elven valley open to be seen from every angle.
Barad-dûr plays a different card: it is the cheapest way into this line, tens of euros less, and standing tall it dominates a shelf like no horizontal model can. Both share the same official retirement date, so —just as with the Star Wars ships— there is no race against the clock between one and the other here: you choose by taste and by budget, not by relative urgency. The LastChanceBricks verdict: if money is not the limit, Rivendell gives you more brick per euro and more of a showpiece; if you want to get into the line spending less, Barad-dûr is the door. Neither of them "goes up in value" on this page —what we do is show you which one gives more today, with the official reference price and the checked Amazon deal alongside.
